No…I’m Jason!
June 4, 2009I stopped into Leo Kesting today on Washington and Gansevorth in the Meat Packing District. It’s Summer the Highline Park that goes from here to 34th is set to open next week and their is energy at the gallery. Already released Jason Reynolds & Jason Douglas Griffins new book “My Name is Jason. Mine Too.” is getting rave reviews, as the artists with a emphasis on innuendo and design prepare for a Silk Screen Party on Saturday the 6th from 7-10pm. Here are a couple of there images that grace the wall. If your in the area cruise bye, have some bear, talk some shop, and get some branding for your threads!

June 3, 2009The work shows a lot of what he’s capable of doing, but fell short for me in any sort of theme. I love his photo books because of their candid voyeuristic perspective, somehow looking at the same photos with a group didn’t seem as candid. It was also kind of toned down, with more emphasis on the subject than scenario. My favorite piece was the one with the two blondes in the bathtub with the floss and the one with the girl and the gun comes second.
Oh yeah! There was Prints on the wall too, compliments of the man in the middle!

May 30, 2009Saw an incredible show tonight at the Joshua Liner Gallery on 28th and 10th. It will be up for the next month and has two of the most gifted and talented artists I have seen in some time. Mike Davis’s stuff is incredibly detailed in landscape and scale brining to mind the puritanical visions of hell from Heronymous Bosch. While Heidis inventive texture filled pieces show the combinations of part and animal to human bringing flavors of Ray Ceasars design and Burlesque of North America. My props go to them. It must have taken years to paint each one of these masterpieces with there huge sizes and fine detail. Take a look…
LaGrenierOpening
May 29, 2009La Grenier | Antique and Housewares that opened up this last month in Greenpoint had a garden opening at their shop at 19 Greenpoint Ave. The exhibition featured Seven large Ceramic Sculptures by an artist named Sebastien. The work was amazing with many of the pieces looking to be carved from rock, wood, or metal with the setting of the overgrown garden accentuating the earthy qualities of the work. Take a look.
As you can see many peoples favorite, including my own, was this piece right here that looks to be forged from copper, etc. resembling a rusted out column or beam maybe found in a boat or on a pier by the sea. Great job Maya! Thanks for the invitation.
